Histoire : Henry Warren, un ancien musicien de jazz devenu affairiste, tente de faire fortune en s'associant à une grande firme qui projette d'installer une conserverie de fruits dans la campagne georgienne. Pour cela, il doit convaincre deux fermiers de vendre leur terrain. Reeve Scott, un Noir, refuse, tout comme Rad, un petit propriétaire blanc pourtant cousin de Warren. Ce dernier s'efforce de les faire partir par tous les moyens.
